The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a six-man kidnapping syndicate allegedly involved in the abduction of a resident in Port Harcourt.
The victim, identified as Mr Hassan, was reportedly abducted on September 6 near Fidelity Bank in the Garrison area of the state capital.
According to the police, the kidnappers took Hassan to Igbugulu Waterside in Borikiri, where he was held for three days before being released after his relatives allegedly paid ₦10.3 million in ransom.
The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, said police received information about the abduction on September 7 and deployed operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit for an intelligence-led operation.
The operation led to the arrest of 24-year-old Victor Ifeanyi, also known as “Big Boby,” from Aguleri Community in Anambra State, and 36-year-old Aniekan Okon Michael, alias “Duff Man,” from Ikot Ukpor in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Police said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects admitted involvement in the alleged kidnapping and told investigators that the gang comprised six members.

The suspects also allegedly disclosed that a white tricycle was used during the abduction.
The Command said efforts were underway to identify and arrest the four remaining suspected members of the group.
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, urged residents to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in tracking criminal networks operating across the state.
He assured members of the public that information provided to the police would be treated confidentially.
Adepoju also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations against kidnapping and other crimes, while urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.

The allegations against the arrested men remain subject to investigation and any subsequent judicial proceedings.
