The people of Udekama in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State have raised concerns over alleged killings and repeated attacks on their communities by a security outfit locally known as “Amama Soldiers.”
The community appealed to President Bola Tinubu, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and the Special Adviser on Homeland Security, Major General Adeyinka Famadewa, to intervene in the matter.
Rismadarvoice reporter gathered that the appeal was also extended to relevant non-governmental organisations, with the community describing the alleged attacks as deliberate and unprovoked.

Speaking on behalf of the community at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, Chief Ohosuo Abraham Francis said several complaints had been made to government authorities and security agencies over the alleged incidents.
He, however, claimed that the complaints had not resulted in adequate action to stop the alleged attacks.
According to Francis, the group identified as “Amama Soldiers” had allegedly continued to operate in parts of Udekama, using force in pursuit of what the community described as a territorial expansion agenda.
The community urged the Federal Government to order an investigation into the allegations and, if the outfit is found to be operating unlawfully, disarm its members and stop armed patrols in the affected communities.
The Udekama representatives also sought clarification over what they described as misinformation concerning court judgments relating to land ownership disputes involving Udekama and neighbouring Kalabari communities.

Francis warned that continued violence could have serious consequences for the affected communities if urgent steps were not taken to protect residents.
He further called for an investigation into an alleged attack during a funeral in 2024, particularly the circumstances surrounding reports that some bodies could not be accounted for after the incident.
The community further appealed to the relevant authorities to urgently investigate the allegations, protect residents and prevent further violence in the area.
