Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé believes he has a strong chance of winning the Ballon d’Or for the first time after an outstanding World Cup campaign that saw him set new scoring records.
The France captain expressed confidence that his performances this year could place him among the leading contenders for football’s most prestigious individual award.
Mbappé won his second consecutive World Cup Golden Boot after scoring 10 goals in the tournament, becoming the first player in 56 years to reach that mark. His performances also helped him surpass Lionel Messi’s previous record for the most goals scored in World Cup history, with Mbappé moving to 22 career goals in the competition.
The French forward, who joined Real Madrid after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, has continued to strengthen his reputation as one of the world’s leading players.
