The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has called for stricter claims management procedures to prevent fraud and ensure efficient healthcare service delivery to enrollees across the state.
The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, Dr Vetty Agala, gave the directive during a meeting with the programme’s Claims Management Team.

RismadarVoice Reporters gathered that Ms Agala urged members of the team to maintain diligence and professionalism while adhering strictly to established procedures in the processing, vetting and management of healthcare claims.
She said effective claims management was essential to ensuring that healthcare providers were properly reimbursed for legitimate services while protecting the programme’s resources from fraudulent, unnecessary or inflated claims.
Also, the RIVCHPP boss tasked the team with strengthening efforts to detect and prevent fraud, abuse and waste capable of undermining the sustainability of the state’s health insurance scheme.

According to her, every claim must undergo proper scrutiny, verification and documentation to ensure that only genuine and medically necessary services are approved for payment.
She reiterated the programme’s commitment to building an efficient, transparent and accountable claims management system that would ultimately improve healthcare delivery to enrollees.
