The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned newly completed blocks of flats for officers at Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna, as part of efforts to improve the welfare and living conditions of Nigerian Army personnel and their families.
Commissioning the facilities on Tuesday, Lieutenant General Shaibu said decent accommodation is an essential component of personnel welfare and contributes to improved morale and operational effectiveness.
The accommodation project was initiated and constructed under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, during his tenure as Chief of Army Staff.
Lieutenant General Shaibu commended the CDS for his foresight and commitment to providing quality infrastructure for military personnel.

He assured officers and soldiers that Army Headquarters would continue to pursue infrastructure development across formations and units to reduce the accommodation deficit and improve their quality of life.
After commissioning the officers’ quarters, the COAS inspected ongoing construction of additional accommodation for soldiers within the cantonment.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress and standard of work and directed the engineers and contractors to maintain quality standards and adhere strictly to approved timelines.
The COAS urged beneficiaries of the new accommodation to take ownership of the facilities through proper maintenance, while remaining committed to discipline, professionalism and service to the nation.
