Operation HADIN KAI, the Joint Task Force North East, has recorded a significant week-on-week increase in the number of terrorist commanders, fighters and affiliates surrendering to troops.

The number rose from more than 50 in the previous week to over 150 in the current week, representing a reported 202 per cent increase.

The Joint Task Force attributed the development to sustained intelligence-led operations, intensified military pressure and coordinated kinetic and non-kinetic efforts aimed at weakening terrorist capabilities and encouraging voluntary disengagement.

It said the surge in surrenders indicates growing pressure within terrorist formations, particularly on their freedom of movement, logistics and ability to retain personnel.

The recovery of weapons and ammunition from some of the surrendering terrorists was also described as evidence of the impact of sustained military operations on terrorist networks.

The Theatre Command said its counter-insurgency strategy combines military operations with strategic communication, civil-military engagement and other non-kinetic measures to disrupt terrorist activities and support networks.

It added that all persons who surrender are profiled, documented and handled in accordance with established procedures and applicable laws.

The Military High Command commended troops for their resilience and operational effectiveness, urging them to sustain the momentum and continue denying terrorist elements freedom of action across the North-East.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to weakening terrorist networks, protecting civilians and creating conditions for the restoration of lasting peace and normalcy in the region.
