Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has felicitated Muslim faithful in Rivers State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor urged Muslims to reflect on the virtues of peace, compassion, tolerance, selflessness and service to humanity associated with the Prophet.
Fubara said these values remained important for promoting harmony and positive change in society.
He prayed for Allah’s acceptance of Muslims’ prayers and wished them good health, prosperity and continued peace in Rivers State and Nigeria.
The governor also emphasised the importance of religious and ethnic diversity in Rivers State, noting that Christians, Muslims and people of other faiths had continued to contribute to the development of the state.
He called on residents to continue promoting harmony, tolerance, understanding, compassion, forgiveness and unity.
Fubara assured residents that his administration remained committed to ensuring that every person in Rivers State, irrespective of religion or ethnic background, enjoys peace, security and equal opportunities to prosper.
The governor urged citizens to use the Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and contribute to a more peaceful and inclusive society.
