The Executive Director of the Federal Housing Authority, Oyetunde Ojo, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what he described as progress in job creation, security and reforms across key sectors.
Speaking on Arise Television on Monday, Ojo said the FHA had recruited 400 workers after more than two decades without fresh recruitment.
He also cited recruitment into the Federal Road Safety Corps, military and forest guard initiatives as evidence of the administration’s efforts to create employment.
Ojo backed the proposed establishment of state police, arguing that constitutional provisions would define their responsibilities and address concerns over possible political abuse.
He also praised improvements in emergency response, saying the Nigeria Fire Service now responds to incidents within about 10 to 15 minutes in some cases.
On security, Ojo said President Tinubu receives regular intelligence briefings and prioritises the safe recovery of abducted victims.
He further highlighted reforms in the correctional system, including inmate education, vocational training, improved feeding and prison decongestion.
According to Ojo, nearly 30 inmates are currently pursuing master’s degrees, about 400 are undertaking first-degree programmes, while close to 1,000 are receiving artisan skills training.
He also claimed that government interventions had cleared more than N600 million in outstanding debts linked to correctional facilities, contributing to a reported 30 per cent reduction in prison congestion.
Ojo defended the administration’s removal of fuel subsidy, saying Tinubu had fulfilled a campaign promise and that the policy was “gone for good.”
He also commended ongoing reforms at the nation’s airports, particularly initiatives by the Nigeria Immigration Service, urging Nigerians to acknowledge what he described as improvements under the Tinubu administration.
