The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the temporary closure of Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort from August 22, 2026, as part of a comprehensive renovation and strategic repositioning of the facility.
The government said the intervention is aimed at upgrading the hotel, improving service standards, boosting efficiency and restoring the facility’s long-term commercial competitiveness after more than 18 years of operation without major transformation.
Under the new arrangement, ALEPH Hospitality, an internationally recognised hospitality management company, will take over the management of Ibom Hospitality Limited from August 22.
The government said ALEPH Hospitality would introduce global best practices, professional management and improved operational and commercial standards.
It also assured existing employees that the transition would not automatically result in job losses, saying staff would be engaged on available roles, training, deployment and other opportunities within the State’s hospitality ecosystem.
Meanwhile, the golf course will remain open to players and visitors throughout the renovation period.
The government said the repositioning is part of its broader strategy to build a world-class hospitality sector capable of attracting investment, creating employment and strengthening Akwa Ibom’s tourism potential.
