Nigeria’s Super Falcons will today battle Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses for a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and an automatic qualification ticket to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The quarter-final clash is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nigerian time at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.
The defending champions had a challenging group-stage campaign, losing 3-2 to Malawi before recording victories over Zambia and Egypt to finish second in Group C.
Cameroon, meanwhile, topped Group D unbeaten, defeating Mali and Ghana before drawing with debutants Cape Verde.
Nigeria head coach Justine Madugu says the Falcons are focused first on securing the World Cup ticket and then retaining their African title.
The Super Falcons will draw confidence from their previous competitive meeting with Cameroon, when Nigeria defeated the Lionesses in the 2022 WAFCON quarter-finals in Casablanca.
The winner of today’s encounter will advance to the semi-finals and secure automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, while the loser will enter the African play-off route.
With both teams chasing continental glory and a place at the global showpiece, the Casablanca encounter promises a fiercely contested African football showdown.
