Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Chapter, Ikot Osurua, have passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of its Chairman, Comrade Nyeneime Raphael, describing her as an excellent and outstanding leader.
The decision was reached during the union’s third-quarter general meeting held at the ASUP Secretariat in Ikot Osurua on Thursday.
Members commended the chapter executive for its commitment to staff welfare, effective engagement with government authorities and representation of their interests.
They also applauded Governor Umo Eno for approving salary increases of 25 per cent for Chief Lecturers and 20 per cent for other teaching and non-teaching staff.
According to the union, the new salaries were reflected in the July 2026 pay, alongside six months’ arrears.
The members described the salary adjustment as a major milestone in improving staff welfare and praised the governor and ASUP leadership for their roles in securing the implementation.
They also reaffirmed their commitment and dedication to support the administration in achieving its core objectives.
