The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condoled with the Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, over the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Amaechi.

The condolence was conveyed during a visit to Amaechi’s Abuja residence by the National Chairman of the PDP Interim National Working Committee, Kabiru Turaki (SAN), who led members of the party’s leadership.

Speaking during the visit, Turaki described the death of a mother as a painful loss and encouraged the former governor and his family to remain strong in the face of the bereavement.

“Nothing prepares anybody for the loss of a parent, especially a mother. So we can only imagine the deep loss and grief that you and your family are going through. As a party on whose platform you served the good people of Rivers State as Speaker and later as Governor, we share in your grief and encourage you to be strong, knowing the certainty of death and its role as a window to immortality,” he said.

Responding, Amaechi expressed appreciation to the party’s leadership for the condolence visit and their words of comfort. He reflected on the sacrifices made by his parents, particularly his late mother, in raising him and his siblings.

The former Rivers governor also commended the Turaki-led PDP for what he described as its resilience and commitment to defending multi-party democracy in Nigeria.

Amaechi stressed the need for greater cooperation among opposition parties, arguing that a united front is essential to unseat the President Bola Tinubu administration in the next general election.

According to him, the opposition must continue to explore avenues for collaboration ahead of the polls, warning that failure to do so could give the incumbent administration an easy path to re-election.
