Former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah, has officially emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Gashaka, Kurmi and Sardauna Federal Constituency, following the publication of the official list of candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

The publication of the INEC list confirms Diah’s candidacy and formally positions him to fly the APC flag in what is expected to be a closely contested race for representation in the House of Representatives.

A seasoned politician with extensive legislative experience, Diah previously served as Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, where he played a prominent role in the state’s legislative affairs.

His emergence is being viewed by many party supporters as a significant boost to the APC’s campaign in the constituency, given his political experience and longstanding relationship with grassroots stakeholders across Gashaka, Kurmi and Sardauna local government councils.

Political observers believe the race for the federal constituency will attract considerable attention as parties begin mobilising supporters and unveiling campaign strategies ahead of the election.

Diah’s candidacy is expected to intensify political activities across the constituency, with voters anticipating issue-based campaigns focused on infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment and improved security.

The release of the candidates’ list by INEC marks an important milestone in the electoral process, paving the way for the commencement of official campaign activities in accordance with the electoral timetable.

As preparations for the elections gather momentum, residents of Gashaka, Kurmi and Sardauna Federal Constituency are expected to witness increased political engagement, with candidates presenting their manifestos and seeking the mandate of the electorate.

Some APC faithfuls from the federal constituency said Diah’s emergence is a blessing to the party and represents a boost as the party aims to secure the federal seat and strengthen its political presence in the constituency and the state at large.
