Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has directed contractors handling the ARISE Palm Resort project to accelerate work, expressing confidence that the facility will be ready for commissioning in September 2026.

The governor gave the charge on Friday after inspecting the project located along Dominic Utuk Avenue, Uyo, stating that the resort is expected to redefine tourism and hospitality in the state.

Governor Eno said the current pace of work had strengthened his confidence in the contractors but stressed that the rainy season must not be used as an excuse for delays.

He also assured that the resort would be professionally managed to ensure sustainability, noting that effective maintenance plans have already been put in place to preserve the facility after commissioning.

The governor lamented the poor maintenance culture affecting many public facilities across Africa, emphasising that the ARISE Palm Resort would operate at full capacity to achieve its economic and tourism objectives.

Managing Director of Bulletine Construction Company, Chief Faysal Harb, assured the governor that completed sections of the resort would begin to be handed over to operators from August, with apartments and restaurants already nearing completion.

Also speaking, the project’s Destination Marketing Manager, Mrs Stella Fubara, disclosed that marketing activities have commenced, with engagements already underway with operators, vendors and prospective employees.

The ARISE Palm Resort is expected to become one of Akwa Ibom State’s flagship tourism and hospitality destinations, supporting the state’s drive to attract investment and boost its tourism sector under the ARISE Agenda.

The inspection tour was attended by the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Obareki, Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and other government officials.
