The Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Anietie Etuk, says computer literacy will be an added advantage for applicants in the ongoing recruitment of 1,000 teachers into the state’s public primary schools.
Speaking on Arise Discourse on Comfort 95.1 FM, Dr Etuk said Governor Umo Eno approved the recruitment to address the shortage of teachers and strengthen basic education across the state.
He said holders of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) qualifications are eligible to apply through the ARISE Youth Employment Portal on or before July 21, 2026.
Dr Etuk added that shortlisted candidates will undergo a Computer-Based Test and oral interview, while successful applicants will be deployed to schools within their respective local government areas.

He also disclosed that the state government has renovated over 250 public primary schools and recently released ₦5.9 billion for further rehabilitation of selected schools across Akwa Ibom State.
