U.S. Senator Roger Marshall has described the latest American military strikes on Iran as a “mop-up operation,” insisting that the major phase of the conflict is over despite renewed hostilities.

Speaking during an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press, the Kansas Republican said the United States would continue to respond decisively to any attacks from Iran.

According to Marshall, the recent military actions follow retaliatory exchanges between both countries, even after the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding last week aimed at ending the conflict.

He noted that while Iran had violated the ceasefire, the U.S. was obligated to respond, describing the current situation as a period of détente rather than a full-scale war.

Marshall also pointed to the recent peace framework between Israel and Lebanon, brokered by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as evidence that Washington was making progress toward its regional objectives.

He said the administration’s goals remain preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, avoiding prolonged military conflicts, and easing economic pressures on Americans.

The senator urged Americans to support the administration’s diplomatic and security efforts, expressing confidence that the strategy would achieve lasting peace and stability.

On domestic issues, Marshall defended President Donald Trump’s decision to delay signing a bipartisan housing affordability bill until Congress approves the SAVE America Act, which proposes major electoral reforms.

He described the move as part of Trump’s negotiation strategy, arguing that both election integrity and measures to address the rising cost of living remain important priorities for the administration.
