Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has admitted that he engaged in criminal activities during his younger years in the United States.

Charly Boy disclosed on Friday while speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time.

The social commentator said he made several poor decisions in his youth and has no intention of hiding that part of his life.

According to him, he was involved in theft and white-collar crime while living in the United States in his mid-twenties.

“I’ve made mistakes in my life. I’ve been a thief. I’ve done very risky things. I’ve done very stupid things, very foolish things. In fact, I have no business being here with you tonight, but I guess there’s a purpose for my life,” he said.

The activist added that his experiences formed part of his journey of personal transformation and self-discovery.

Charly Boy said he documented those experiences in his memoir to give a complete account of his life, from youthful mistakes and rebellion to personal growth.
