The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of officers and soldiers, describing it as a central pillar of his command philosophy.
Represented by the Director-General of the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Major General Tariweeiye Ebiowei Gagariga, at the commissioning of a newly constructed 60-unit one-bedroom officers’ transit accommodation in Port Harcourt, the COAS said a well-accommodated and motivated soldier is better positioned to discharge duties effectively.

He commended the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force South-South, Operation Delta Safe, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, for initiating the project. He also appreciated Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for partnering in its execution, noting that the facility would significantly ease accommodation challenges within the Port Harcourt Barracks.
The Army Chief urged beneficiaries to maintain the facility, stressing that welfare projects can only achieve their intended purpose when users take ownership of them.
In his welcome address, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah said the project was conceived to address accommodation shortages for officers and their families, in line with the welfare policy of the Chief of Army Staff.
According to him, the project was completed within seven months through effective collaboration with Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and the provision of timely funding.

In a goodwill message, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, represented by its General Manager (Security), Brigadier General Felix Efe Edafioghor (Rtd.), commended the Nigerian Army for its role in safeguarding lives and property across the country.
He assured the Army of the company’s continued partnership in supporting initiatives that enhance national security and the welfare of military personnel.
