Troops of the 82 Division Garrison under Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA, in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have uncovered a suspected arms cache linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Enugu State.
The operation was carried out on June 9, 2026, in Gariki, Enugu South Local Government Area, following intelligence obtained from previously arrested suspects, according to military authorities.
In a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, the security forces said they conducted a follow-up operation as part of the ongoing Operation Eastern Sanity II.

During the raid, troops discovered a concealed arms hideout inside a zinc structure reportedly disguised as a piggery.
A search of the location led to the recovery of several weapons and ammunition, including General Purpose Machine Guns, an RPG-7 launcher tube, AK-47 rifles, hand grenades, a tear gas gun with cartridges, AK-47 magazines, 270 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition and 478 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
Military authorities said all recovered items, along with arrested suspects, have been handed over to the DSS in Enugu State for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Army described the operation as a major success resulting from effective collaboration among security agencies and intelligence-driven operations aimed at combating threats to public safety in the South-East.

The statement added that Operation UDO KA remains committed to sustaining offensive operations against criminal and terrorist groups operating in the region and called on members of the public to continue providing credible information to support security efforts.
Security agencies said the operation forms part of ongoing measures to strengthen peace and stability across the South-East.
