Barcelona have completed the signing of England international, Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, securing the 25-year-old on a five-year contract in a major transfer move ahead of the new season.
The Spanish champions confirmed the deal on Friday, bringing an end to Gordon’s spell in the English Premier League, where he established himself as one of Newcastle’s key attacking players.

Although financial details were not officially disclosed, reports suggest Barcelona paid an initial fee of around €80 million, with additional performance-related add-ons included in the agreement.
Gordon, who scored 17 goals across all competitions for Newcastle this season, including an impressive 10 goals in 12 Champions League appearances, arrives in Spain following a breakthrough campaign on the European stage.
At his unveiling, the winger expressed delight at fulfilling what he described as a childhood dream of playing for Barcelona. Speaking partly in Spanish, he surprised journalists with his fluency, revealing he had long prepared for the possibility of a move to the Catalan club.
He said the opportunity to join Barcelona was an easy decision once interest from the club became clear, adding that playing alongside some of the world’s top talents influenced his ambition to join the La Liga side.
Barcelona praised Gordon’s dribbling ability and goal contributions, noting his strong performances against them in last season’s Champions League encounters, where Newcastle faced the Catalan giants.
Despite Newcastle’s struggles in the Premier League, where they finished outside European qualification spots, Gordon’s individual performances attracted interest from top European clubs before Barcelona secured his signature.
The England winger, who joined Newcastle from Everton in 2023, made over 150 appearances for the club, scoring 39 goals and providing 28 assists, while also helping them secure a long-awaited domestic trophy.

His move adds to Barcelona’s growing list of English players in the squad, as the club continues to strengthen its attacking options following a successful domestic campaign.
Gordon is also expected to play a role for England at the upcoming World Cup, as he joins a Barcelona side aiming to maintain dominance in Spain and compete strongly in Europe.
