The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has approved waivers for former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, to contest senatorial seats in the 2027 general elections.
The approval clears the two politicians to contest the Delta Central and Delta North Senatorial District seats respectively under the platform of the NDC.

According to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the decision followed the formal defection of both political figures from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the NDC.
“The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has approved waivers for former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, to contest the Delta Central and Delta North Senatorial seats respectively under the platform of the party in the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.
The party said the waivers were granted in recognition of the political experience, leadership credentials, and contributions of both politicians to democratic governance.
It added that the NDC welcomed both men into its ranks and assured them of a level playing field to pursue their political ambitions.
“The NDC warmly welcomes both distinguished political leaders into the party and assures them of a credible, inclusive and people-oriented platform to advance their political aspirations and contribute meaningfully to the development of Delta State and Nigeria at large,” the statement added.

The party further expressed confidence in the capacity of Omo-Agege and Ochei to provide effective representation, citing their experience and grassroots political structures.
The NDC also reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, transparency, inclusion, and strengthening its presence ahead of the 2027 elections.
