The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country despite worsening economic hardship, insecurity and rising cost of living across the nation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said many Nigerians were currently facing severe difficulties, including rising food prices, unemployment and uncertainty about the future.

The opposition party noted that the Sallah celebration was taking place at a particularly challenging time for citizens and called on leaders at all levels to reflect on their responsibilities to the people.

“Across the country, millions of families are struggling under the weight of rising food prices, worsening economic hardship, unemployment and growing insecurity,” the statement read.

Despite the challenges, the ADC expressed optimism that Nigeria could still overcome its present difficulties and emerge stronger.

“We believe deeply that beyond the hardship and frustration of this moment lies the possibility of a stronger, safer and more prosperous nation,” the party stated.

The ADC said it envisioned a Nigeria where effective leadership would restore hope, create opportunities for young people, improve security and enable businesses and farmers to thrive again.

The party urged citizens not to surrender to despair, stressing that nations recover when people continue to believe in a better future.

It also prayed for peace, healing and unity across the country during the Eid-el-Kabir season.

“Above all, we remain confident that Nigeria can still rise again,” the statement added.
