Pat Akpabio, sister-in-law to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Senator James John Udoedehe, have secured the African Democratic Congress (ADC) tickets for the 2027 elections in Akwa Ibom State.

Udoedehe emerged as the party’s governorship candidate after winning the ADC primary election with a total of 66,099 votes, defeating his closest rival, Barrister Mfon Peters, who polled 103 votes.

Princess Pat Akpabio also clinched the party’s ticket for the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District after securing 21,326 votes during the primary exercise.

Announcing the results, Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, John Elijah, commended party members for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the exercise across the state.

He expressed confidence that the party’s candidates would perform strongly in the 2027 general elections.

In his acceptance speech, Udoedehe thanked party members for their support and said his decision to contest was driven by a desire to provide an alternative leadership direction for the state.

According to him, the ADC is presenting a governance model focused on accountability and improved welfare for residents.

“We are coming to give Akwa Ibom people an alternative government, building them from a sprinkled daily bread policy to affluence,” he said.

He also raised concerns over unemployment, poverty, and inequality in the state, promising that such challenges would receive priority attention if elected.

Speaking on behalf of other candidates, Princess Akpabio said her ambition was driven by a desire to bring meaningful change rather than satisfy personal interests.

She urged residents of the state to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 elections.

“I believe in change and we are capable of making the change. We are not here to massage anyone; we aim to make a better Nigeria and a better Akwa Ibom,” she said.
