Popular Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson has weighed in on the ongoing conversation surrounding money, depression and emotional well-being, saying financial success does not automatically translate to happiness.

The actor challenged the widely shared belief that money can solve every emotional struggle, stressing that depression can affect people regardless of their financial status.

Egbuson commented while reacting to a viral post on X which suggested that many people battling depression simply needed money to overcome it.

The post, which gained widespread attention online, read: “You’re not depressed, you need 20 million naira.”

Responding to the statement, the actor wrote: “It’s not always about money sha.”

His reaction sparked broader discussions among social media users, with many agreeing that while financial difficulties can contribute to emotional distress, money alone cannot address all mental health challenges.

Several users noted that depression can also stem from grief, anxiety, trauma, loneliness and other personal experiences that may not be tied to financial circumstances.

Others, however, argued that economic hardship remains one of the major triggers of emotional struggles, maintaining that improved financial stability could ease the burden for many people facing daily pressures.

The discussion has continued to generate mixed reactions, highlighting differing views on the complex relationship between mental health, financial well-being, and overall happiness.
