A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of assets valued at over N1.9 billion linked to a former Acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku, to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Justice James Omotosho delivered the ruling on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, ordering the forfeiture of shares, cash, and a five-bedroom duplex after affirming that the assets were proceeds of unlawful activities.

The judgment follows Nwabuoku’s earlier conviction on March 23, 2026, on a nine-count charge bordering on money laundering and abuse of office brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In its application dated April 1, 2026, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission sought a final order of forfeiture covering assets traced to the convict, including funds in multiple corporate accounts, real estate, and investment holdings.

The forfeited assets include funds held in accounts belonging to companies such as Temeeo Synergy Concept Limited, Turge Global Investment Limited, Laptev Bridge Limited, and Arrafura Transnational Afro Ltd, as well as N220 million recovered into an EFCC recovery account at the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The total cash component was put at approximately N288.6 million.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of a five-bedroom duplex located at No. 20 City Gate Estate, Kukwaba, Abuja.

In addition, shares valued at about N1.94 billion acquired across various companies were included in the forfeiture order.

Delivering judgment, Justice Omotosho held that the prosecution had sufficiently established that the assets were derived from unlawful activities, relying on the earlier conviction of the former accounting officer.

He consequently ordered that all listed properties and financial assets be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
