The Zenith Labour Party in Nasarawa State has adopted a consensus approach for its forthcoming governorship primary election as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum.

The state chairman of the party, Cletus Ogah, disclosed the development while addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Lafia on Wednesday.

According to Ogah, the decision followed extensive consultations and meetings among party stakeholders aimed at promoting unity and avoiding internal disputes that could emerge from a competitive primary process.

He revealed that former Acting Accountant General of the Federation, Abubakar Giza, is being considered as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

Ogah described Giza as a leader with strong grassroots support and a reputation for humanitarian service, expressing confidence in his ability to drive development and improve governance in Nasarawa State if elected.

Speaking during the event, Giza said his interest in the governorship race was inspired not only by encouragement from supporters but also by his concern over socioeconomic challenges facing residents of the state.

He identified unemployment, poor infrastructure, pension issues, and insecurity among the pressing concerns requiring urgent government attention.

According to him, his administration would prioritise economic revitalisation, job creation, and investment-driven growth if elected governor.

Giza also pledged to focus on agriculture, support for small and medium-scale enterprises, and expansion of local investment opportunities aimed at boosting employment and economic productivity.

He said his vision is centred on building a secure, productive, and people-oriented Nasarawa State capable of delivering improved living standards for residents.
