The Nigeria Police Force has announced significant operational successes recorded across the country in April 2026, describing the achievements as a reflection of strengthened intelligence-led policing, improved coordination, and renewed commitment to internal security.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on 6th May 2026.
According to the statement, the operations were carried out by various tactical and investigative units deployed across multiple states as part of sustained nationwide efforts to curb violent crime, dismantle criminal networks, and enhance public safety.
He said, within the period under review, the Police recorded the arrest of a total of 280 high-risk suspects linked to different forms of violent and organised crime. These include; 28 suspected terrorists, 85 suspected kidnappers, 62 armed robbery suspects, 51 suspects involved in murder and culpable homicide cases, and 54 suspected cultists

The Force said the arrests were achieved through coordinated operations, surveillance-driven intelligence, and targeted raids on identified criminal hideouts and black spots.
In what the Police described as one of the most significant outcomes of the month, 189 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued from various captivity locations across the country.
The Force noted that many of the victims were rescued following swift tactical responses to intelligence reports, as well as sustained search-and-rescue operations conducted by special units working in collaboration with other security agencies.
The operations also led to substantial recoveries of illegal weapons and stolen assets, including: 140 assorted firearms, 1,074 rounds of ammunition, and 37 stolen vehicles linked to criminal operations
The Police emphasised that these recoveries have significantly disrupted the operational capacity of several criminal groups and reduced their ability to carry out further attacks.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended officers and men involved in the operations, praising their professionalism, resilience, and dedication to duty despite operational risks.
He stated that the results underscore the growing effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing strategies and strengthened inter-agency collaboration in addressing evolving security threats across the country.

The IGP further reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to sustaining pressure on criminal elements, dismantling organised crime networks, and enhancing public safety nationwide. He also emphasised ongoing internal reforms aimed at building a more accountable, efficient, and citizen-focused police institution.
The Force also reiterated the importance of public cooperation in achieving lasting security gains. Citizens were urged to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies, stressing that effective policing depends on strong community partnership.
