Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered the interim forfeiture of two luxury vehicles allegedly linked to suspected internet fraudsters.
The order affects two grey-coloured Lexus ES 350 cars with registration numbers SMK-774JN and EKY-753JZ, reportedly recovered from Christopher Chikudozie Ubammadu and James Femi Joshua.
The ruling followed an ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission through its counsel, H.U. Kofarnaisa.
In support of the application, an affidavit deposed to by EFCC investigating officer Nwike Fortune stated that the Commission’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 received intelligence on suspected internet fraud activities operating within the Apapa area of Lagos State.
According to the affidavit, EFCC operatives conducted a sting operation on January 29, 2026, during which several suspects were arrested and the vehicles were recovered from their residences.
The Commission further told the court that since the seizure of the vehicles, no individual had come forward to claim ownership, adding that preliminary investigations linked the cars to proceeds of alleged fraudulent activities.
Counsel to the EFCC, Kofarnaisa, argued that the assets were reasonably suspected to have been acquired through unlawful means and urged the court to grant interim forfeiture.
Justice Owoeye granted the application, ordering the interim forfeiture of the vehicles to the Federal Government.
The court also directed the EFCC to publish the order in a national newspaper and instructed any interested party to appear within 14 days to show cause why the vehicles should not be permanently forfeited.
