Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have continued sustained offensive operations under Operation DESERT SANITY V, recording notable gains in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts across the theatre.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the operations resulted in the neutralisation of terrorists, arrest of suspected collaborators, and the surrender of an insurgent.

In one of the operations conducted in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), troops intercepted terrorists moving from the Yale axis towards the Sambisa Forest. During the encounter, four terrorists were neutralised. Troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle with ammunition, along with food items suspected to be part of enemy logistics supplies. No casualties were recorded on the side of the troops, who returned safely to base.

The statement further disclosed that coordinated clearance operations along key routes, including Dambboa–Maiduguri, Dambboa–Gwoza, Goniri axis, and other infiltration corridors, have continued to restrict the movement and activities of terrorist elements within the region.

In a separate development, troops deployed at Kanama arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators during a stop-and-search operation. Items recovered from them included clothing and personal effects believed to be linked to terrorist logistics support. Preliminary investigations also revealed digital materials suspected to indicate affiliation with insurgent networks. The suspects are currently in custody for further interrogation.

Additionally, troops recorded the surrender of one suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP member at a checkpoint in Kukawa Local Government Area. The individual reportedly claimed he was abducted earlier in the year and forced into joining the group. He is undergoing profiling and further investigation.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to restoring lasting peace, security, and economic stability in the North East, while urging residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their resilience and gallantry, and encouraged them to sustain the momentum of ongoing operations.
