Super Falcons will face a potentially difficult route to the Los Angeles Olympic Women’s Football Tournament in 2028.

Today’s African zone draw in Cairo, Egypt, pits the Nigerian Falcons against either Sudan or Comoros in the second round of qualifying.

The 10-time African champions drew a bye to the first round to book a meeting with Sudan or Comoros scheduled for the weekend of 5 and 13 October 2026.

Should Nigeria eliminate Sudan or Comoros, the West African side will have a difficult task of facing either Congo or Morocco in Round Three of the qualifiers slated for the weekend of February 23 and March 6, 2027.

A possible qualifying matchup between Nigeria and Morocco presents a rerun of the AFCON 2024 final between both teams with Fathe lcons posting a 3-2 comeback win over their North African foes.

After the qualifying series over 5 rounds, two teams will emerge to represent Africa in the women’s football event of the 2028 Olympic Games.

Nigeria and Zambia represented the continent at the last edition of the Olympics staged in Paris France.

The Los Angeles Olympic Women’s Football Tournament is scheduled for 11 to 29 July 2028
