The newly redeployed Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Rivers State, Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, has called on staff to demonstrate renewed commitment and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Dr Sinikiem made the call on Tuesday during his first official meeting with management and staff at the Commission’s state office in Port Harcourt.

The meeting, which marked his formal engagement with the workforce following his redeployment, was attended by senior officials and staff members, who accorded the new REC a warm reception.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sinikiem expressed appreciation for the cordial welcome he received upon resuming duty. He emphasised the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and dedication, urging staff to align with the Commission’s mandate of delivering credible electoral processes.
Speaking on behalf of the management and staff, the Administrative Secretary, Angela Ebhodaghe, commended the REC for convening the meeting and assured him of the workforce’s full support and cooperation.
She also tasked Electoral Officers across the state to ensure effective service delivery during the upcoming Claims and Objections exercise, scheduled to commence on April 29, 2026, at INEC Local Government Area offices.

The exercise forms part of efforts by the Commission to update and validate the voters’ register ahead of future electoral activities.
