TROOPS RECOVER ARMS, ARREST SUSPECTS IN DELTA SWIFT OPERATION

Troops of Headquarters 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South South, under Operation DELTA SAFE, have recorded a major operational breakthrough with the recovery of arms and the arrest of two suspected criminals in Delta State.

The operation, which took place in Ogidigben Community, Warri South West Local Government Area, followed reports of sporadic gunfire in the area. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops swiftly mobilised to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of four AK-47 rifles.

Other items recovered during the operation include six magazines, 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two knives, ten machetes, and four pairs of rain boots.

The arrested suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing preliminary investigation.

Commending the troops for their prompt response and resilience, the Commander of 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, charged them to sustain the momentum in ongoing operations. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action within its area of responsibility.

The Commander also issued a stern warning to individuals or groups involved in criminal activities or in possession of illegal arms to desist, stressing that the military will intensify efforts to track down and apprehend offenders.
