Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have neutralised two suspected gunmen during a coordinated ambush in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation, carried out on the evening of April 21 around Doruwa Babuje in the Marit axis, followed credible intelligence on the movement of suspected criminals accused of terrorising nearby communities.

According to military authorities, the troops engaged the gunmen after sighting them, leading to a firefight in which two of the suspects were killed, while others escaped into nearby bushes.
Items recovered from the scene include a locally fabricated rifle, five rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, a cutlass, a jackknife, and a mobile phone.
Security sources said troops have maintained a strong presence in Marit and neighbouring Lajam villages to prevent further attacks and reassure residents. Efforts are also ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
Operation ENDURING PEACE reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the region, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.

Plateau State has witnessed recurring security challenges in recent years, with authorities intensifying operations to curb armed attacks and restore normalcy across affected communities.
