The Supreme Court of Nigeria has granted an application for accelerated hearing in the appeal filed by the Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following submissions made by their counsel, Chris Uche, SAN.

The apex court also ordered the respondents to file and serve their responses within five days, while fixing April 22 for the hearing of the substantive appeal.

The appeal stems from a dispute over rulings that halted the PDP national convention scheduled to hold in Ibadan in November 2025.

The Turaki-led faction is seeking to overturn the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which had earlier affirmed a Federal High Court decision stopping the convention.

The faction is urging the Supreme Court to set aside the lower courts’ decisions, arguing that the courts lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

With the accelerated hearing granted, the case is expected to be fast-tracked as both parties prepare to present their arguments before the apex court on the scheduled date.
