A 27-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of homicide following the deaths of her husband and three-year-old son at a water park resort in Pennsylvania, United States.

The suspect, identified by police as Metallica Rose Harrison of Towanda, was arrested after officers discovered the bodies of her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young son inside a guest room at the Great Wolf Lodge resort in the Pocono Mountains.

According to the Pocono Township Police Department, officers responded to an emergency call at approximately 3:13 p.m. on Monday after Harrison reportedly contacted emergency services requesting assistance.

Police said officers arrived at Room 2030, where they found Harrison injured and discovered the two victims.

Investigators subsequently classified the deaths as homicides.

Court documents cited in reports indicated that the victims had sustained injuries consistent with an alleged stabbing.

The criminal complaint also alleged that Harrison provided emergency dispatchers with information about the location of the victims before officers arrived.

Following preliminary investigations, authorities charged Harrison with two counts of homicide.

She appeared before a judge on Tuesday and was ordered to remain in custody without bail.

At the time of the initial reports, it was unclear whether she had secured legal representation.

Police described the incident as isolated and assured residents and visitors that there was no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.

The department also expressed condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the deceased.

Management of Great Wolf Lodge confirmed that the incident occurred in a guest room at its Pocono Mountains property.

In a statement, the resort expressed sadness over the deaths and said it was cooperating with law enforcement authorities.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing.

The allegations against Harrison have not been determined by a court, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
