The Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Media Advocates (ISDMA) has convened its General Congress, bringing together members to review the group’s progress, outline strategic plans for its future development.

The meeting, held on Sunday, was presided over by the President, Emma Akpabio, and attracted over 60 participants drawn from the 10 local government areas within the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

Deliberations at the congress focused on strengthening the organization’s internal framework and enhancing its effectiveness as a media advocacy body. As part of these efforts, key committees were inaugurated to improve coordination, streamline operations, and boost overall service delivery.

In his address, Mr Emma Akpabio emphasized the importance of institutional structure in achieving the group’s objectives, noting that the newly constituted committees would play a critical role in advancing ISDMA’s mandate.

He said the congress also served as a platform to unveil plans for upcoming activities, including a leadership training programme and other major events designed to promote professional development and foster growth within the organization.

Reaffirming the group’s commitment to inclusivity, the President stated that ISDMA remains open to media practitioners across the senatorial district. He encouraged interested individuals to join the forum by contacting him or any member of the executive council.

The General Congress marks a significant step in ISDMA’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its presence, enhance its impact within the media landscape in the region.
