Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has applauded Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien and other elders and stakeholders of the State for their historic roles, contributions, and support towards its development.
Governor Eno gave the commendation on Thursday, during a Service of Tributes/Songs held in honour of the late Dr. Grace Emmanuel Ibok Essien, wife of Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien at the New Apostolic Church, Ikot Ekpene.
He expressed appreciation to Senator Ibok-Essien for his steadfast support for the administration, describing him as a leader of exceptional qualities whose contributions to the progress of Akwa Ibom State remain significant.
The Governor particularly acknowledged the Senator’s role during the struggle for the onshore/offshore oil dichotomy, describing him as a brave, bold, and fearless leader who has paid his dues and left a lasting legacy in the State.
“Thank you for your contributions to the State from the time of the onshore/offshore oil dichotomy, and for all the work you have done. You are still standing strong today, adding your voice to the development of our State,” the Governor said.
“Through you, we appreciate all other leaders in the State for supporting this government. You have always been there. This is a small way of saying thank you.”
Governor Eno, who attended the event to commiserate with the bereaved family, thanked God for the impactful life of the late Dr. Grace Ibok Essien, as reflected in the numerous tributes.
He commended Senator Ibok Essien’s courage and composure in the face of loss and prayed for strength for him and the entire family, describing the loss as deeply painful.
The Governor further urged the family to take solace in the virtuous life and motherly qualities of the deceased, as well as the fond memories she left behind.
In his tribute, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien described his late wife as a true embodiment of the biblical virtuous woman, an angel whose worth is immeasurable and a life defined by grace.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Eno for his significant financial support during her hospitalization, describing him as a compassionate leader who genuinely cares for his people.
The Senator also highlighted key development projects executed by the Governor in Ikot Ekpene, including the ongoing construction of the Ikot Ekpene International Market, the approval of an underground drainage system across the local government, and several road projects. He described Governor Eno as a “game changer” whose administration has transformed Ikot Ekpene and Akwa Ibom State at large.
In an exhortation, Apostle Nwansa Oscar of the New Apostolic Church, West Africa, ministering from Revelation 3:20, admonished believers to remain steadfast in faith, live righteously, and focus on eternal rewards rather than the fleeting comforts of the world.
