Former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Sir Bassey Dan Abia, has extended his condolences to former Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien and his family over the death of his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Emmanuel Ibok Essien.
Sir Abia conveyed his sympathies during a condolence visit to the former senator at his residence in Ikot Abia Idem, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The former senator represented Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District at the inception of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic and also the founder of Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene LGA.

Speaking during the visit, Sir Abia urged Senator Essien and members of the bereaved family to remain strong and find comfort in Christ during the difficult period.
He noted that the passing of Dr. (Mrs.) Essien was not only a loss to the immediate family but also to the community and society at large.
Describing death as a natural occurrence ordained by God, Sir Abia said every human being has an appointed time on earth as determined by the Creator.
He encouraged the family to draw strength from the scriptures, reminding them that, according to the Holy Bible, God gives and takes according to His will.

Sir Abia expressed his heartfelt condolences, urged the family to remain hopeful and continue to trust in God, especially during this time of grief.
