More than 20 people have reportedly been killed in a fresh attack on Binper community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred between Monday night and the early hours of Tuesday, August 18, 2026, according to residents.
An eyewitness, Daniel Musa, said the attackers, who were reportedly heavily armed, moved through the community and broke into several homes while residents were asleep.

According to him, the assailants attacked people inside their houses, leaving several residents dead or injured.
Musa said more than 20 deaths had been confirmed by Tuesday morning, while several others sustained injuries and some residents remained unaccounted for.
Another resident, John Dalyop, described the attack as devastating and called on security agencies to urgently track down those responsible.
Dalyop also appealed to the Plateau State and Federal Governments to strengthen security in Mangu and other communities considered vulnerable to attacks.
Residents said some of the injured victims had been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while community leaders were working to establish the whereabouts of those still missing.
Security personnel were reportedly deployed to the area on Tuesday morning as authorities moved to restore calm and prevent further violence.

The latest incident has heightened concerns over the security situation in parts of Plateau State, where rural communities have experienced deadly attacks in recent years.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from security agencies were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
