The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has launched its 2026 recruitment exercise, offering more than 30 job opportunities to qualified citizens of its member countries, including Nigeria.

In a notice published on its official website on Thursday, the regional organization said the recruitment drive is part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of its programmes across various institutions within the bloc.

Interested applicants have been advised to submit their applications through the ECOWAS careers portal at https://www.ecowas.int/careers/.

Several of the available positions are based in Abuja, Nigeria. These include Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), and Accountant roles. Other vacancies in Abuja cover Legal Officers, Political Advisor, Principal Officer positions, Registrar roles, Head of Division for Library and Documentation, and Head of Hansard.

ECOWAS is also recruiting for positions outside Nigeria. These include Administrative and Finance Officer in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Principal Programme Officer (Sports Policy) in Liberia; Principal Programme Officer for Water Supply and Sanitation in Conakry, Guinea; as well as several legal and administrative roles in Dakar, Senegal.

According to the organization, applicants must meet specific age requirements depending on the category of the position. Candidates applying for General Services or Support roles (G1–G7) must not be older than 35 years, while those seeking Professional positions (P1–P7) must be under 45 years. Director-level positions (D1–D2) have an age limit of 50 years.

ECOWAS also encouraged women to apply, noting that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted during the selection process.

Applicants are required to download and complete the official application form, attach a curriculum vitae and a motivation letter, and submit the documents via the designated email addresses before the deadline.

The organization emphasized that applications lacking any of the required documents will not be considered.

“All applications must include the application form, CV and a cover letter. Applications that do not contain all mandatory documents will not be considered,” the notice stated.

The deadline for submission of applications is April 30, 2026.

ECOWAS further warned applicants to be cautious of fraud, stressing that the organisation does not charge any fees at any stage of its recruitment process and will never request payment or personal financial information from candidates.
