Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that Israel supports the United States’ decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks. However, the truce does not apply to Lebanon.
In a statement, Netanyahu affirmed Israel’s backing of US President Donald Trump’s efforts to neutralize Iran’s nuclear, missile, and regional threat. He said Washington has committed to these goals in upcoming negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Friday.

Netanyahu clarified that while the US-Iran ceasefire is in effect, Israel will continue operations in Lebanon. This comes after Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif stated that the US, Iran, and allies had agreed to an immediate ceasefire “everywhere, including Lebanon and elsewhere.”
Lebanon entered the conflict on March 2 after Hezbollah aligned with Tehran, launched attacks on Israel. Hezbollah cited retaliation for Israel’s killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and repeated ceasefire violations since November 2024.
Since March 2, Israeli strikes on Lebanon have reportedly killed over 1,500 people and displaced more than one million, while the Israeli military has advanced into southern Lebanon aiming to expand a buffer zone.

There has been no immediate response from Hezbollah or the Lebanese government regarding Netanyahu’s statement.
