The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu over his recent visit to Plateau State, describing his response to the killings in Jos as “insensitive” and “inhumane.”
In a press statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the opposition party faulted the President’s handling of the aftermath of the attack which claimed over 40 lives on March 29, 2026.
The PDP alleged that the Presidency remained silent for over 48 hours following the incident and only acted after widespread public condemnation. It further criticised the President’s visit to Jos, claiming it was rushed and lacked empathy for victims.
According to the statement, the President met with stakeholders and victims briefly at the airport before returning to Abuja, a move the party described as a “performative and superficial show.”
The PDP also questioned the security situation in the country, suggesting that the President’s limited engagement during the visit reflected the severity of insecurity in Plateau State and beyond.
It dismissed the Federal Government’s plan to deploy 5,000 Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras as inadequate, arguing that such measures do not address the root causes of violent attacks across the country.
The party called on the Federal Government to adopt a more comprehensive approach to tackling insecurity, including greater community engagement and proactive strategies to protect lives and property.
The statement underscores growing political tensions over the handling of security challenges, as calls for decisive action continue to mount across the country.
