Large explosions have been reported in Tehran as the war involving Iran, the United States and Israel intensifies, with Iranian authorities claiming that nearly 10,000 civilian locations have been struck since the conflict began.
Iranian officials said more than 1,300 civilians have been killed in the attacks during the 11 days of fighting, as air strikes and missile exchanges continue across several parts of the region.
The escalation has triggered widespread military activity across the Middle East, with regional governments responding to incoming missiles and drones amid fears of a broader conflict.
The United States military confirmed it destroyed 16 inactive Iranian mine laying vessels after warnings that attempts to disrupt oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz would lead to serious consequences.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had launched a fresh wave of missile strikes targeting sites in Israeli cities including Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem, as well as US military facilities in Erbil in Iraq and Manama in Bahrain.
In Lebanon, local officials reported that Israeli strikes killed the mayor of Jouya, Fawzi Fawaz, and a municipal council member during attacks on the southern town. Lebanese authorities also said several other people were killed in separate strikes in the country’s Tyre district.
Elsewhere, a military camp belonging to the Popular Mobilisation Forces in the western Iraqi city of Al-Qaim was reportedly hit, leaving at least one person dead and several others injured.
Diplomatic tensions have also risen after Russia said its consulate in Isfahan was damaged during an attack targeting a nearby government building, describing the incident as a violation of international diplomatic protections.
The conflict has also raised concerns about global economic stability. A United Nations expert warned that rising oil prices triggered by the war could lead to severe economic consequences worldwide, particularly for developing countries already struggling with inflation and debt.
As fighting continues across multiple fronts, international observers warn that the situation risks expanding further unless diplomatic efforts succeed in de-escalating the conflict.
