Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has congratulated Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Placid Okon on his appointment as the new spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force.

Okon’s appointment by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, was announced earlier on Sunday.

In a congratulatory message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno thanked the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence reposed in the new police spokesperson.

The Governor expressed optimism that Okon would bring professionalism and integrity to the role, describing him as a worthy ambassador of Akwa Ibom State.

According to the statement, the governor said the new Force Public Relations Officer would carry into the position “the defining elements of the Akwa Ibom identity of excellence in delivery, integrity beyond reproach, strength and firmness in humility, loyalty without question and the advancement of the mandate of the IGP.”

Eno also noted that Okon’s appointment aligns with the broader vision for strengthening the Nigeria Police Force in line with the agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, I congratulate you on this national assignment given to you by the IGP,” the governor said.

He wished the newly appointed police spokesperson success in the discharge of his duties, adding, “I wish you God’s speed and to Him alone be the glory.”
