The Nigeria Police Force has officially drawn the curtain on the 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) tagged Asaba 2026, with Force Headquarters emerging as the overall winner at the end of the week-long sporting fiesta.
The Games, held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, showcased athletic excellence, unity, and professional discipline among officers drawn from commands and formations across the country.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, described the tournament as a defining institutional moment for the Force.
He noted that beyond competition, the Games revealed the character, resilience, and shared purpose of officers.
According to the IGP, what started as a routine gathering of formations evolved into a powerful display of unity and cohesion within the Force.
He added that the theme of the Games, “ Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action ,” was reflected in the spirit of sportsmanship and mutual respect demonstrated throughout the event.
He further stressed that the physical fitness and discipline fostered through sporting activities enhance operational readiness and contribute to improved policing and service delivery nationwide.
Declaring the Games closed, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday John Onyeme, commended the Nigeria Police Force for exhibiting discipline, dignity, and dedication. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting sports as a tool for unity, youth development, and national advancement.
The ceremony featured the football finals, tug-of-war contests, 4×100 metre relay races, a frisbee demonstration, and invitational events involving sister security agencies, culminating in a closing concert.
At the end of the competition, Force Headquarters topped the medal table, while Zone 2 Lagos and Zone 9 secured second and third positions respectively.
The Nigeria Police Force said it remains committed to sustaining the unity, discipline, and resilience demonstrated during the Asaba 2026 Games in its policing duties across the country.
