Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to show greater appreciation, respect, support for the nation’s leaders, noting that many of them are highly respected, honoured internationally.
In a statement shared on her Facebook page, Senator Tinubu lamented what she described as a growing culture of hostility fueled by hatred and negative narratives planted by political interests. She said such narratives have hardened the hearts of many citizens, leading to bullying, insults, public ridicule of national leaders.
According to her, some Nigerians go as far as seizing on leaders’ mistakes to demean, curse, and drag them across social media platforms, a practice she warned undermines national unity and progress.
She emphasized that Nigeria is built on love, unity, and collective effort toward shared success, urging citizens to come together, work hand in hand with their leaders to make the country great.
