Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will receive significant electoral support from Kano residents in the 2027 general elections, citing ongoing Federal Government infrastructure projects across the state.
Yusuf made the declaration on Wednesday, October 21, while representing the President at the commissioning of a section of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Highway at Tamburawa in Kano State.
The governor praised Tinubu’s investment in road construction and other infrastructure projects, describing the highway as an important transportation corridor connecting communities and commercial centres across Northern Nigeria.
According to Yusuf, the road project would improve the movement of people and goods, reduce transportation difficulties and support economic activities.
He maintained that several projects undertaken by the Tinubu administration had received insufficient public attention despite their potential benefits.
“I have seen many projects the President has executed that have not been publicised. I could go on and on listing the projects and initiatives of this administration,” Yusuf said.

The governor expressed confidence that voters in Kano and other parts of the country would support Tinubu’s re-election bid to allow the continuation of ongoing development projects.
He described improved transportation infrastructure as essential to the economic growth of Kano, particularly because of the state’s commercial importance.
Yusuf also called for greater Federal Government attention to other road projects requiring rehabilitation within the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, defended the administration’s economic reforms, arguing that the measures were beginning to produce positive results.
Umahi said the Federal Government had completed nearly 400 kilometres of inherited and newly initiated road projects across the North-West geopolitical zone within three years.
He also disclosed that construction was progressing on several major highways, including the Sokoto–Zamfara–Zaria Road, Kano Northern Bypass and other strategic routes.
According to the minister, 148 kilometres of the 164-kilometre second section of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Highway had been completed, leaving less than 20 kilometres outstanding.
He added that the government planned to install solar-powered streetlights along the highway to improve visibility and road safety.

Yusuf’s latest declaration follows his earlier endorsement of Tinubu’s second-term ambition during the inauguration of the Arewa for Asiwaju campaign office in Abuja on October 17.
The governor’s statements reflect his political support for the President ahead of the 2027 elections, although the eventual voting preferences of Kano residents will be determined at the polls.
