Chief executives of federal government agencies and parastatals have unveiled a political mobilisation structure to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the group targeting 10 million votes.

The Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals presented its initiative during a meeting with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and members of the party’s National Working Committee in Abuja.

The forum said it intends to establish a complementary structure focused on grassroots mobilisation, public communication, election planning and campaign support.

Chairman of the forum, Dr Kazeem Kolawole Raji, who is also Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Board for Technology Incubation, said its members were participating as professionals, public-sector leaders and political stakeholders.

Raji said the group believes the administration’s programmes and policies should be communicated more extensively to Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots.

He said members of the forum, through their respective agencies, were involved in implementing government programmes and were therefore positioned to explain their objectives and outcomes to the public.

The forum’s Chairman of Media and Publicity Committee, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, who is also Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, said the proposed structure would complement rather than compete with the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

According to Ajiboye, the forum intends to contribute expertise in areas including media management, grassroots mobilisation and election management.

He said the group would submit detailed technical proposals to the APC leadership outlining how its members intend to participate in the 2027 campaign.

Responding, Yilwatda welcomed the initiative and highlighted grassroots mobilisation and communication as important components of the party’s preparations for the election.

He said chief executives of federal agencies were familiar with programmes being implemented by the administration and could contribute to communicating information about those programmes to Nigerians.

The APC chairman also welcomed the forum’s proposal to develop a structure that would operate alongside the party’s formal campaign machinery.

The forum had earlier pledged to mobilise at least 10 million votes for Tinubu’s re-election through what it described as lawful, ethical, peaceful and issue-based political engagement.

It has also appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, as its Grand Patron.

The group said its planned activities would include communicating government policies and programmes, engaging communities and providing channels through which citizens could raise concerns and provide feedback.

The 10-million-vote figure remains a mobilisation target announced by the forum rather than an electoral outcome.
