A Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja has reportedly sentenced a couple, Harry Uyanwanne and Oluwakemi Odia, also known as Kristein Uyanwanne, to 14 years’ imprisonment each over a ₦67.6 million property fraud case.

According to details of the reported judgment, Justice Mojisola Dada delivered the ruling on Monday, November 2, 2026, following prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The court was also reported to have ordered the defendants to repay ₦67,659,592 to the complainant, Olusola Odemuyiwa.

The defendants faced four counts involving conspiracy, stealing, obtaining money by false pretence and forgery.

The prosecution alleged that the couple dishonestly dealt with property belonging to the estate of the late Dr Moshood Babatunde Odemuyiwa.

According to the account, the defendants conspired in 2010 to sell a property located at Plot 19, Murtala Mohammed Way, Ebute Meta, Oyingbo, Lagos, for ₦16 million.

The prosecution maintained that they falsely represented themselves as having authority from the beneficiaries of the deceased’s estate to dispose of the property.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty during the trial.

EFCC prosecuting counsel Fadeke Giwa reportedly presented three witnesses and documentary evidence to establish the prosecution’s case, while the defence called one witness.

In the reported judgment, Justice Dada held that the prosecution had proved the offences of conspiracy, stealing and obtaining money by false pretence beyond reasonable doubt.

The defendants were, however, discharged on the forgery count.

The court reportedly imposed three years’ imprisonment for conspiracy, one year for stealing and 10 years for obtaining money by false pretence, without the option of a fine.

The reported sentences amount to 14 years for each defendant, although clarification is needed on whether the terms are to run consecutively or concurrently.

The judge was also said to have directed that the imprisonment of Harry Uyanwanne be suspended until his apprehension.

The couple had previously been involved in a separate fraud prosecution before the same court.

In December 2024, Justice Dada convicted Harry Uyanwanne and Kristen Uyanwanne in a case involving approximately ₦52 million and ordered restitution.

That earlier judgment concerned different allegations and should not be confused with the latest reported proceedings.

Independent confirmation of the November 2 judgment and its precise sentencing orders remains necessary.
