Several Nigerian internationals made notable moves during the 2026 summer transfer window, switching clubs across England, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, Libya and other European leagues.
The transfers have opened new opportunities for a number of Super Eagles players, with some seeking regular playing time, while others moved to clubs where they hope to take the next step in their careers.
HERE ARE 12 NIGERIAN INTERNATIONALS WHO COMPLETED CLUB MOVES DURING THE WINDOW:
- TAIWO AWONIYI
Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi left Nottingham Forest for Premier League side Coventry City in a permanent deal reportedly valued at £17 million.
Awoniyi had spent several seasons at Forest after arriving from German club Union Berlin.
- FRANK ONYEKA
Midfielder Frank Onyeka also joined Coventry City, completing a permanent move from Brentford.
The Nigerian previously spent time at Coventry on loan before making the transfer permanent. He had joined Brentford from Danish side FC Midtjylland.
- KELECHI IHEANACHO
Experienced forward Kelechi Iheanacho departed Scottish club Celtic for Turkish side Bursaspor.
The move presents the former Manchester City and Leicester City forward with an opportunity to rebuild his career after a challenging spell in Scotland.
- AKOR ADAMS
Nigerian striker Akor Adams completed a permanent transfer from Sevilla to Italian club Venezia.
Adams signed a contract that will keep him at the Serie A side until 2030 as he begins a new chapter in Italian football.
- RAPHAEL ONYEDIKA
Raphael Onyedika moved from Belgian side Club Brugge to German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.
The midfielder’s switch to Germany represents another important stage in his development after establishing himself in Belgium.
- CHIDOZIE AWAZIEM
Veteran defender Chidozie Awaziem returned to Turkish football after leaving French club Nantes for Konyaspor.
Awaziem, who has previous experience in Turkey, will continue his career with the Super Lig club.
- GIFT ORBAN
Forward Gift Orban joined Turkish club Amedspor on loan from Hoffenheim.
Orban had spent the second half of the previous season with Italian side Hellas Verona and will now continue his career in Turkey for the 2026/27 campaign.
- LEON BALOGUN
Former Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun left Cypriot club Aris Limassol for Hungarian side ETO Győr.
The experienced centre-back adds another league to his extensive European career as he begins a new chapter in Hungary.
- YIRA SOR
Nigeria international Yira Sor moved from Belgian club Genk to Turkish side Amedspor.
The winger will reunite with fellow Nigerian forward Gift Orban, who also joined the Turkish club during the transfer window.
- TEREM MOFFI
Striker Terem Moffi completed a permanent move from French club Nice to German Bundesliga side Hamburg.
The transfer was reportedly worth €2 million, with an additional €500,000 potentially available in bonuses.
Moffi will be hoping the move to Germany helps him rediscover his best form and establish himself as a key player at his new club.
- FEMI AZEEZ
Femi Azeez secured a deadline-day transfer from Championship side Millwall to Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion.
The winger attracted attention following his performances during the 2025/26 Championship campaign before completing his move to the English top flight.
- OLISA NDAH
Defender Olisa Ndah left South Africa for Libyan club Al Shomooa.
Ndah’s move followed spells with South African clubs Stellenbosch and Orlando Pirates, with the defender now taking on a new challenge outside the country.
The 2026 summer transfer window therefore proved significant for several Nigerian internationals, with players moving across different leagues in search of new challenges, greater opportunities and career progression.
